Denville Dawgs Week 1 June 19th 9:00am
Saturday, 06/19/10
teams: Montville, Denville, Tri-Town, Jersey City
Montville's Community Park was a awesome setting for the 1st games of the season. Yes, with only 2 practices under our belts, we looked a 'little green', but caught on quickly. We were able to run, pass and kick well.

We headed in to the tournament with 2 owl and falcon teams and 4 hawk and eagle teams. Each team played 2-3 games and enjoyed the day.

Falcons

We were very pleasantly surprised how well our team did. We were a bit nervous after Tuesday’s practice, but felt more confident after Thursday and somehow, it all came together on Saturday. They must have been listening because they called for the ball, gave a target and followed the play down the field in support of their teammates, which was the difference between turning it over and scoring a try. There was tremendous hustle and defense by our entire D-1 team grabbing tons of flags including Tierni, Kevin, Lucy and James with numerous tries by Mac and Jon-luke that couldn’t be possible w/o the great assists by Kyle. And our D-2 team did the same with great “D” by our whole team including Matt, Jake and Will B. with Tries (some by first timers) including Will, Chris, Gavin and Jack. All a result of good hustle and being in the right place at the right time.

Overall, a tremendous kickoff to our season and especially for those playing for the first time that picked it up much quicker than anticipated.

Looking forward to next week!

Owls

Rugby 101… and they scored.
Emily was a stand out today... she scored a bunch of times. Pia and Lauren ran fast and smooth reaching the tri line many times. Michael scored... Wade scored.. Our owls ran the wrong way many many times but did it with a smile.
